Blood Tribe receives major donation of masks and face shields

On Friday, a donation of 184,000 face shields was delivered to Standoff, Alta. The devices will be distributed among tribes within the Blackfoot Confederacy, Treaty 7, and some areas in Saskatchewan.

“This morning we received the first shipment of the medical visors,” said Blood Tribe Chief Roy Fox ‘Makiinima’. The face shields were donated by Indigena in partnership with Mark’s Work Warehouse.

“They have contributed 184,000 plastic medical shields to the Bloods, to the [Blackfoot] Confederacy, and to other tribes in the south, and as well as in Saskatchewan and our cousins of course, Amskapi Piikani – the South Peigans (Blackfeet).”

Fox and Blood Tribe Senior Executive Officer Rick Soup accepted the shipment of face shields, of which 90,000 will go to the Blood Tribe – with the priority set on school-aged children.

More details of the face shields distribution will be provided on the Blood Tribe website next week.
