Man charged after police seize weapons and drugs
Lethbridge Police Crime Suppression Team, with the assistance of the K9 and patrol units, seized weapons and drugs after arresting a 34-year-old male on outstanding arrest warrants on Wednesday.
After making a traffic stop for outstanding warrants, the subject was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine, cash and shotgun shells. A search warrant was subsequently executed at his residence in the 200-block of St. James Boulevard North.
Seized were weapons including a loaded shotgun, a CO2 harpoon gun, a switchblade, numerous air pistols and bear spray; as well as quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine. The total value of the drugs is about $3,350. Three suspected stolen bikes, including an e-bike valued at $6,000, were also seized.
Kody Martens was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm and possession of a firearm obtained by offence. He remains in custody while awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
The investigation is ongoing with further charges pending.
