Hurricanes add forward from Hitmen

The Lethbridge Hurricanes made a weekend move, acquiring one player and re-assigning another.

On Saturday, the Hurricanes announced they had acquired 2003-born forward Tristan Zandee from the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick in the 2022 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft.

Zandee, 18, was a secondround and 36th overall pick in the 2018 WHL draft by the Hitmen.

The product of Airdrie played in 15 games this season with Calgary totaling one goal and three points.

The left-shot forward has appeared 36 career WHL games scoring 12 points (two goals, 10 assists).

The six-foot-three, 200-pound forward spent his 16-year-old season with the Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior Hockey League where he posted 12 goals and 25 points.

Zandee spent his WHL draft season with the Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA where he had 15 goals and 48 points.

The Hurricanes have also re-assigned 2003-born forward Rhys Raeside to the Portage Terriors of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Raeside had one assist along in 12 games with the Canes this season.

The Hurricanes end their four-game homestand on Friday when the Brandon Wheat Kings visit the Enmax Centre at 7 p.m.

Friday’s game is also the 25th annual Canadian Tire Toque and Teddy Toss.
